Self publishing a novel is a lot of work and a lot of funds. As a self published author, my success depends on my efforts. In order to make it this far, I’ve spent roughly $3,000 CAD, and I haven’t even held the final product in my hands. This Kickstarter has two main benefits. While digital pre-orders are available on Amazon, there is no option for readers to pre-order physical copies. I also don’t receive any KDP royalties until 30-60 days after a sale. Problem is, I still need to order author copies prior to the Sept 30th release date. With Kickstarter, I receive the money shortly after and won’t have to pay out of pocket to create my physical back stock. Secondly, when you purchase a from Amazon, you get a run of the mill, print on demand copy. Through Kickstarter, I fulfill every order by myself. This means I have endless opportunities to make these first editions special. Every reader is important to me because you’re making a life-long dream come true.

So you’ve funded.. What now?

The Kickstarter is still active until September 23rd (a week before my novels release). Reminder that Kickstarter doesn’t take your money until the campaign ends. This is the ONLY place you can order signed physical copies, as well as grab some of the several goodies I’ve put together, a few pictured above.

If we reach $1,500, I will commission an illustrated map of the world of Tide Bound! The illustration will be included in every edition of the novel, as well as a coloured poster, which will be a digital download for all digital tiers, but printed & included for all physical tiers.

I’m on vacation from today until August 25th (A very well deserved vacation, in my opinion) and while I’m dancing at concerts and rotting at my cottage, my lovely editor Shan, will be finishing her copy/line edits. ARCS are scheduled to be sent to readers on September 9th. You will receive an email confirming you’ve been 100% selected prior to that.  Once I come home, if the Kickstarter has hit the first stretch goal, I will add some more!
